New York City is a fascinating city to travel. So I'm going to share travel tips for new york city. New York City revolves around three things: time, speed and efficiency. In fact a lot of Manhattanites live by daily mental check lists and feel like they never have enough time to everything they want and need to do. Today I'm going to share with you my New York City Travel Guide of Tips. 1. Bring comfortable and practical shoes. Now I know a lot of you have probably watched Sex & the City and the women in that TV show always wear high heels. That's because they were taking taxi cabs everywhere. Unless you're taking taxi cabs everywhere , be prepared to walk. A lot. you'll be walking up and down stairs, you'll be taking the metro and the bus all around and you'll be walking blocks and blocks and BLOCKS! Being from Hawaii I was practically born in flip-flops and when I moved to New York, I realized they just didn't work there. 2. Don't stop in the middle of a busy sidewalk or at the entry of a subway station. I like to think of busy New York sidewalks as kind of like the pedestrian version of the German Autobahne. If you're going to stop on the sidewalk or when you emerge from the subway station pull off to the side so other people can pass you by. Simple as that. 3. It is a well-known belief that New Yorkers happen to be very impatient, therefore, next tip is if you're waiting in a checkout line, have your wallet ready when you get to the cash register. The last thing you want to do is wait until you get to the very front, have the cash register ring you up your purchase, tell you what it is and then you... open your bag to look for your wallet. You might not make the cashier or the people behind you very happy. Remember, good customer is not a requirement in New York city. It's an option. 4. Now a lot of people think that New York City is an expensive place to live as well as to visit. That can't be furthest from the truth. The two things that tend to be expensive in New York City are rent and a hotel room. Outside of that you'll find that Manhattan actually has a lot of free activities, like concerts in Central Park, or Shakespeare in the park. You have street markets and street vendors who sell things at a very discounted rate. You don't need to rent a car, you can always take public transportation. In fact, you can buy daily, weekly and monthly unlmited metro passes. If you love to eat, there's always hole-in-the-wall restaurants with good food, for cheap! Also if you love shopping, New York doesn't have sale tax on clothes. Now last, where to find toilets. New York isn't really known for having a whole lot of public toilets and if it did, I don't know if you'd actually really want to use them. People can be dirty. But if you really had to go and were looking for a spot to go in, then my best suggestion is: Mc Donald, Starbucks, public museums as well as the New York public libraries. some parks migh have them but I wouldn't count on them. One handy app I have is Sit n Squat. It's downloadable for free by Charmin and it will help you locate the nearest toilet whether paid or free on your phone. Hope you enjoyed this video. If you did give me a thumbs up or like. Subscribe to my channel. If you have any tips you'd like to share about surviving New York, then leave em down in the comments section below. This is the third episode of our independent „A Taste of ...“ time lapse series. In September 2016 we visited this awesome city to try out some new time lapse stuff. It took us 10 days, a lot of burgers and one helicopter ride to produce this video. 10 days is very little time to discover this city of endless opportunities, so we hardly slept anything and shot day and night for this time lapse film. So we gathered 2000 (!) photos in total we had to sort afterwards and compile to a hyperlapse around a cab in post production. It took us 5 whole days in post production to get this one shot. Technical Details: In 10 days we shot 65.000 Photos taking up 2,6 TB of our hard drives. The final 3 minute video took 36h to render on the best equipped iMac available. Want Some Travel Advice for Visiting New York City & Getting the Most Out of Your Visit? Well here we have 5 tips for travelers and tourists heading to New York, the Big Apple! These tips will help you enjoy more of what to see and do and enjoy in New York! filmed on Ellis Island Copyright Mark Wolters 2016 Tip #1. Walking is a way of life in New York, so don't stop in the middle of the sidewalk. You will get run over. Step to the side to take your pictures of the Empire State Building or Times Square. Tip #2. Be Ready! Whether it is to pay the check or pay for a drink or get on the subway be ready to pay as things move quickly in New York and the locals will get annoyed at you for wasting their time. Tip #3. Have Cash... oddly enough there are still a lot of places in New York (comparatively) that still only take cash. ATMs are everywhere and they charge a lot for withdrawals. Tip #4. You can enjoy New York without busting your budget. With museums that have suggested prices where you can pay what ever you want, to free nights at museums and free sights you can see New York and still have some money left over, though the hotels are insane expensive no matter what. Tip #5. Use the toilet before you leave your hotel. New York public toilets are nasty so make sure you use the toilet before you leave the hotel. 10 Things That Will SHOCK You About the Southern USA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szbyA3Bic_w How Not to Be a Bad Tourist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KebJkfLoEfA How Pickpockets Work https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8JFxbevCQc USA Today & 10Best's #1 Independent Travel Videographer 2014 FlipKey by TripAdvisor Top 10 Travel Bloggers 2014 Our Equipment Sony Alpha a6000 Digital Camera. Things YOU need to know before you travel to New York City. NYC consists of 5 Boroughs, Manhattan, the most famous and dense is also the smallest. Brooklyn is the most populated, with 2.6 million residents (total of 8.5M in NYC). Queens is the largest, and “most ethnically diverse” county in the US. Bronx is the northenmost and the only one that is part of the US Mainland. Staten Island is the most suburban Manhattan is BIG -- don’t expect to walk the whole thing in a day 5 days is probably the sweet spot. No less than 3 days. Wear comfortable shoes Girls: Sex and the City says everybody walks in heels all the time -- not so much. Don’t try and walk everywhere, the subway is there for a reason. NYC is Expensive! Everything costs more here. The city runs on tips New Yorkers aren’t really rude.. They are just efficient. Expect to pay to use a bathroom, there really aren’t many good public toilets Weather For about 8 months out of the year it is chilly. And, for about 3 months it’s just plain miserable. Be prepared for really cold and windy, or really hot, humid, and muggy. Be prepared to rain always. Summer: Highs 84F/29C Lows: 68F/20C (July) Winter: Highs: 38F/3C - Lows 25F/-4C (January) Winter Footwear -- puddles the size of small lakes Layers Best months: September, October, May and June Getting in Airports LaGuardia (M80 Bus) JFK (Airtrain to Howard Beach then catch the subway) Newark (30 mins on Amtrak or NJ Transit) Beware of unnoficial cabs Trains -- to Penn Station or Grand Central. Grand Central is amazing. Megabus if you’re on the east coast Driving -- if you do drive in… just plan to park and leave your car for the duration of your stay. Transportation in NYC The Subway mostly runs north south… east and west you’ll be walking it If you’re in NYC for awhile, get a week or month long Subway pass Avoid the empty subway car, it’s empty for a reason. Hot or smelly. Don’t lean on the subway poles… more people can hold on to it Pay attention to the local, or express trains. Get in the subway at the correct entrance, going the right direction, and for the right line There are tons of yellow taxis… but they are notoriously hard to hail in bad weather Flagship city for Uber, Lyft. But traffic is slow. If you’re running late, don’t take a taxi. You WILL get stuck in traffic. Walking -- don’t drop in the middle of the sidewalk Ferrys for a different way to get around NYC Ferry - East River route for some of the best views Citi Bikes -- 10,000 bikes and 600 stations -- Download the citi bike app - $12/day Bus Tours -- skip it Times Square Crowded, chaotic, dazzling and overpriced Is really small -- and there’s not much to do once you get there. Whatever you do, don’t eat here. The food is overpriced and mediocre due to high rent. Broadway Shows Book way ahead of time There’s a vibrant “Off-Broadway” Scene Book of Mormon and Avenue Q are my favorites Check out the TKTs booth for cheap tickets or online now Parks (Central Park & the High Line) Central Park Is really big -- and no subway across Central Park is 800 Acres Strawberry Fields, Sheep’s Meadow, ice skating rinks. Visit the High Line on a weekday to avoid the crowds Big Apple Attractions Statue of Liberty -- book ahead of time Cant get tix for the Statue of Liberty, ride the Staten Island Ferry for free! Empire State Building -- Long Lines Top of the Rock is really cool -- great views of the Empire State New WTC Observatory 9/11 Memorial ($2 Reservation Fee Museum of Modern Art Metropolitan Museum of Art American Museum of Natural History (Suggested Admission) Chelsea Market New York Public Library Flatiron Building Shopping along 5th Avenue Hotels Expensive! Save some money by staying in Queens, Brooklyn, or Staten Island If money is no object -- the Park Hyatt is amazing Marriott Marquis on Times Square in the middle of it all Food Food carts and trucks can be really good The Halal Guys is a “must eatGrimaldi’s Pizza (In Brooklyn under the bridge) and Lomardis in Little Italy Pastrami on Rye Shake Shack started here Chinatown Get noodles at Xi’an Famous Foods (location in Chinatown) Bagels with Lox New York Hotdogs from Gray’s Papaya New York Cheesecake CLICK HERE TO SUBSCRIBE: http://bit.ly/yellowwsub Click here to watch more of my New York City videos in my NYC Travel Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gP9uQKpzFA&list=PLOVadUHX1B-Lz1jCrYEnaoFpon0MwO9JJ Yellow Productions on social media: FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/YellowProductionsTravel INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/yellowwproductions/ TWITTER: ChrisRaney GOOGLE+: https://google.com/+yellowwproductions Check out my blog at: http://yelloww.net Music: Easy Lemon Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)

Join me on this delicious New York City food tour! ►Check out my NYC food guide: https://goo.gl/xubRjU ►Get a t-shirt here: https://goo.gl/3dV4uu New York City is an incredible food city because of the diversity of the food available. On this New York City food tour we started off the day by going to one of the most famous restaurants in NYC, Katz's Delicatessen to eat pastrami. Next, we ate at a restaurants in New York City Chinatown called Spicy Village for an amazing pan of “Spicy Big Tray Chicken,” and for dinner I had chicken over rice from The Halal Guys, one of the most popular New York City street foods. 1:21 Katz's Delicatessen - There are few places in New York City for food as famous as Katz's Delicatessen, an absolute legendary deli in the city. Although it’s well overpriced, because it’s such a heritage NYC institution, it’s one of the must eat restaurants in the city. I arrived early in the morning, hoping to beat the crowds, which I did (go for breakfast if you want to avoid lines). After a little contemplation, I decided to go for the reuben with pastrami and a half of corned beef. The corned beef was alright, but the reuben with pastrami was incredible. Total price - $48.56 13:32 Spicy Village - Next up on this New York City food tour my wife and I walked around New York City Chinatown and eventually found our way over to a restaurant called Spicy Village (thanks to Monty for this recommendation). The one dish I mainly wanted to eat at Spicy Village was the Spicy big tray chicken, a pan of fried chicken parts and noodles in a spicy and mouth numbing broth. It was everything I had hoped for and more, and it was one of the best foods I ate in New York City! Total price - $22 - But along with the spicy big tray chicken we had an extra dish as well. 18:32 Times Square - One of the busiest and most recognized squares in the world is Times Square in New York City. So in the afternoon, happy and full of Spicy Village and Katz’s Deli, we walked over to Times Square to enjoy the people watching and the ridiculous amount of lights and action. 20:19 The Halal Guys - While walking through Times Square I remembered that one of the most popular New York City street food stalls wasn’t too far away. So we walked over to The Halal Guys, and I ordered chicken over rice. The chicken over rice itself is prepared pretty plain, but the flavor in The Halal Guys is all in the white and red sauce, both of which are incredibly flavorful and delicious. It was my first time to eat at The Halal Guys, and I’m pretty happy I did. Chicken over rice - $7 It was a great first full day in New York City with some incredibly delicious food. Probably my favorite dish of the day was the spicy big tray chicken from Spicy Village, but all the food was so food. Heading to New York & Not Sure What Your Hotel Accommodations Will Be Like? Well here we give you advice and tips on some of the typical hotels you will find in New York City. 1. They are expensive so plan accordingly. There are cheap tourist things to do in New York City, but the hotel is not one of them. 2. There are high taxes on hotel rooms which makes the rooms even more expensive. 3. The rooms are usually small, so you if you are a family make sure you let them know so you will have enough room. 4. WiFi is usually free, but breakfast is not. Many hotels do not offer breakfast, but there are a lot of options in NYC for breakfast so you will be fine. 5. You will always want to use the toilet before you leave the hotel as NYC public toilets are nasty. 6. You probably should tip the cleaning staff between $2 and $5 per day. We leave a little note for them as well. 7. There are high early check in fees, but most hotels will hold your luggage for free. filmed in New York City Copyright Mark Wolters 2016 10 Things That Will SHOCK You About New York City https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMyC_PUuEok 5 Tips for Enjoying New York City https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5TZkBIYMY0 Tipping in the USA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoKL2T_48HU USA Today & 10Best's #1 Independent Travel Videographer 2014 FlipKey by TripAdvisor Top 10 Travel Bloggers 2014 Our Equipment Sony Alpha a6000 Digital Camera.
